What makes a memorable trade exhibition stand? Well, after 20 years' attending trade exhibitions as a reporter, here's what has stuck in my mind: a mooning garden gnome; an ingenious display at the old Dutch NTV where the floor of one tree-nursery's stand was tilted so you could walk underneath the roots of the plants; a six-foot tall, gender-confused plastic vine-weevil called Vincent; and a display of play equipment at the old Institute of Groundsmanship exhibition -- the firm had a group of school kids play on it for the day as a live demonstration.
