The Royal Horticultural Society is a champion of education and for finding funding so that people can gain relevant and well-respected qualifications. Horticultural education and the Royal Horticultural Society go hand and hand. If you were to do a straw poll of all the horticulturists you know, you might be surprised how many have undergone RHS training. Founded originally under the title The Horticultural Society of London by Sir Joseph Banks and John Wedgwood, the society set out to collect information about all plants, and to encourage the improvement of horticultural practice. Two hundred years on and the training of horticulturists remains one of the RHS's main aims.
