In the past anyone buying a Christmas tree would go up to the shop or garden centre, pick one that looked about the right size, bundle it into the car and drive home. Now customers are more discerning: they want particular varieties or trees that don't drop their needles. And they are not afraid to shop around to find what they want. There is no shortage of places for them to go. By the middle of December, every suburb or small town will have literally dozens of outlets where Christmas trees can be purchased. If garden centres don't stock the right trees, they won't get the customers.
