When the Parks Need People report from CABE Space dropped onto the desks of parks managers across the country, a collective sigh was heard. Most people could tell you what was in the report without reading it. Ask any industry with an ailing economy what the problem is and one of the guaranteed answers is skill shortage. For parks, the skill shortage is found both at the operational and supervisory levels. The loss of the traditional apprenticeship means a lack of newcomers and an ageing managerial level.
