Communities and local authorities are learning how to care for parks together. Local authorities used to call them parks' enemies groups. They are better known by their proper title of parks' friends' groups and it is now an ideal of all park managers to have one for every park in the country. Park promotion organisation Green-Space's Parks for People conference (HW, 16 June) showed the international enthusiasm for getting the public to help make decisions about parks.
