It's election day and NFU horticulture board chairman Richard Hirst is at work growing peas for Bird's Eye. Hirst farms 380ha at Ormesby, near Great Yarmouth. He says of today's election: "It would be nice to think horticulture was an issue but therehas not been a lot of mention of anything to do with the countryside, farmers or growers in any major party manifesto. Horticulture is not seen as very relevant to politics."
