The Brit Oval Cricket Ground in Kennington, South London is the famous home of Surrey County Cricket Club. The Ground was originally built in 1845 and forms an essential part of the cultural and historic fabric of the local area. The first ever test match was played at the Ground in 1880. To ensure its continued success as a sporting venue the Club needed to ensure that the capacity and quality of the facilities on offer met the requirements of the English Cricket Board (ECB) and the demands of the modern game. Design: The Miller Partnership was appointed to develop the project, based on a concept by HOK SVE. The plan consisted of the demolition of the existing temporary and permanent stands at the Vauxhall End of the ground, and replacement with a modern four tier stand. The project would also include a prominent roof and a landscaped living screen running around the public facade of the stand.
