Explosive cladding of steel bars by means of copper is presented. Such bars can be used as charge for rolling in stretching passes. Testing of structural changes and microhardness distribution in the joint zone was carried out and the results have shown that explosive cladding provides durable connection of copper layer with the steel core. Advantages of the method, technological parameters of explosive welding, functional parameters of explosive material and properties of obtained semi-finished bimetal are presented.
