The Ineffectiveness of Using a Universal Geometric Dimension in Describing the Hydrodynamics and Heat Transfer in Porous Structures

It is demonstrated that, in the general case, a real porous structure cannot be replaced by a model system of parallel straight channels. This simplification leads to significant errors in calculating both the drag and heat transfer. Comparison with experimental data confirms this inference.
