摘要

When it comes to improving safety along the nation's roadways, balancing the needs of all road users has always represented a major challenge - particularly when it comes to meeting the needs of motorcyclists and cyclists. While there can be no doubting the importance of installing safety fence and barrier systems to prevent errant vehicles from leaving the roadway and/or crossing the median into oncoming traffic, it is also clear that, as is the case with any other stationary object along the roadway, these fence posts can represent a significant risk to errant motorcyclists and/or cyclists during an impact.
