The usefulness of the computer analysis of the kernel colour images was evaluated with two triticale cultivars -- winter Ugo and spring Gabo, grown in 3 cultivation systems (ecological, integrated and conventional) following inoculation of spikes with Fusarium sp. pathogens. Image analyses were carried out using the MultiScan~(R) 4.01, set up and calculations were made using of MS Excel. With the applied technique it was possible to distinguish differences between inoculated and control (non-inoculated) grains and to determine the influence of the cultivation system on seed coat colour. The method described is very useful for a rapid evaluation of kernel colonization with Fusarium sp. pathogens, and can significantly support control of seed quality and grain quality for food and feed purposes.
