摘要

Sorghum genotypes with high sugar content in the stem are reported to be more susceptible to stem borer incidence. A study was made to find out the relationship between stem borer incidence and sucrose percentage of stem juice and other parameters of sweet sorghum varieties. A total of 23 genotypes raised in a randomized block design with two replications during kharif'91 was used for recording the observations. The stem borer incidence was recorded at the time of physiological maturity as per centage of stem tunneling. The length of the stem actually damaged by stem borer was recorded by split opening the stem and the per cent of stem tunneling was obtained as the ratio of length of the stem damaged to the total length of the stem. This was recorded on five plants in each replication and the average was worked out.
