NAAB REPORTS STEADY Al SEMEN SALES

U.S. sales of domestic Al semen were steady in 2012 compared with year earlier results according to Dr. Gordon Doak, president of NAAB, the trade association of the U.S. Al organizations. In his report at the NAAB annual meeting held Aug. 21 in KansasCity, MO, he said sales totaled over 23 million units, with Holstein accounting for nearly 20 million of those units only slightly ahead of 2011. Jersey totaled 2,478 million units, up nearly 15% from year earlier figures. In terms of units sold, next came R&W Holstein, Brown Swiss and Red Carrier Holstein. Swiss, Ayrshire, Guernsey and Milking Shorthorn all showed slight declines.
