Superstore Sales Reporting: A Comparative Analysis of Relational and Non-relational Databases Short Paper

摘要

The purpose of this paper is to realize a comparative analysis of relational and non-relational database management systems. Both conceptual and technical characteristics are introduced, presenting the benefits and disadvantages of each model, using a hybrid application. The application, named Superstore-SalesReporting, generates comparative reports which describe the technical characteristics of both SQL and NoSQL databases based on the executed operations. The application constitutes the contribution of this study, together with the creation of the SQL Server internal processes for migrating data from a flat file into a star schema.
