The resources sector in Australia, especially Western Australia, is once again bracing for a period of exponential growth.This sector brings in around $155.8 billion in Australia, and, according to the Department of Mines and Petroleum, in Western Australia alone the resources industry is valued at $92.5 billion - 32% of the state's gross state product (GSP). In Western Australia, this figure is expected to increase to $150 billion across 33 projects either committed or under consideration during the next few years. These will create more than 45 000 construction jobs and 10 500 permanent jobs.
