During the past few months there have been several publications that have generated a good deal of pessimism about the environmental and economic future,some with specific reference to Australia.The sense of foreboding is like the nightmarish year 1959-60 when we as undergraduates felt that the world was likely soon to come to a violent end in nuclear war.
