When you consider that the permanently established oxygenated atmosphere dates some 2.5 billion years,our efforts to utilise molecular oxygen in aerobic oxidations have been a long time coming.Rolf Schmid and Vlada Urlacher invited key researchers to share their insights in the utilisation of oxidising enzymes as protocols in the chemical sciences and for commercial applications.The first three chapters describe the scope and limitations of dehydrogenases,laccases and Baeyer-Villiger monooxy-genases and their applications.
