In next month's issue, our last before the general election, we hope to bring you an analysis of the major parties' plans for worker protection regulation if they form the next government. Whichever party or patchwork of factions takes charge in May, it would be commendable if their approach to health and safety law was founded on a desire to help business reduce accident and illness rates. Or at least on a sound evidence base. Those don't always seem to have been prerequisites for the present administration's interventions.
