How did you end up in a health and safety career? Perhaps like many others, my move into health and safety wasn't planned. I spotted a job ad for an occupational hygienist with Pilkington Brothers, a multinational glass manufacturing company, and thought I would go for it. I didn't actually know what an occupational hygienist did but it sounded interesting. And I got the job. Though I had studied for a degree in chemistry, I had realised that I didn't really fancy standing behind a bench in a lab for the rest of my days. I wanted to be out and about meeting people. I wanted to apply what I had learned to the real world.
