Sharp and leading edges create uniquely hazardous environments when using fall protection systems due to the risk of lifelines cutting, fraying or becoming otherwise compromised. Schedule 5, part 4, of the Work at Height (WAH) Regulations, which covers "additional requirements for fall arrest systems", states clearly that "a fall arrest system shall not be used in a manner which involves the risk of a line being cut".
