THE part collapse of a building undergoing renovation work on a busy east London street has cost fashion importer Citytex UK 45,000 pounds in fines and prosecution costs. "It was sheer luck that no one was injured or worse," HSE inspector Sarah Snelling told HSW. Citytex employees were continuing to work in the building while construction workers carried out substantial modernisation work. In total, around 20 people - including builders and staff-were in the property when it buckled and fell on 13 February 2007. Search and rescue workers using sniffer dogs were at the scene for several days expecting to find victims buried in the rubble.
