MOST of us recognise the irritation and inconvenience caused by false fire alarm signals. We've all left ourdesks or workstations and stood outside in the cold, only to hear it was a false alarm and have to troop back inside,It should come as no surprise, then, that false alarms are a significant issue for businesses, fire brigades and the wider fire industry. According to the Department for Communities and Local Government, of the 585,000 fire brigade call-outs across Britain in 2011/12, more than half (312,000) were false alarms.
