Consultation calls for views on no-win, no-fee reform plans

THE Ministry of Justice is consulting on plans to reform no-win, no-fee agreements by stopping claimants' lawyers from recovering success fees and associated costs from unsuccessful defendants in personal injury cases and other damages claims. A review by Lord Justice Jackson last January found that conditional fee arrangements, of which no-win, no-fee agreements are the most common type, have led to disproportionate rises in civil litigation costs in England.
