Jackson review proposes 'no-win, no-fee' shake-up

A LANDMARK review of civil litigation costs has recommended radical reforms to the structure of "no-win, no-fee" agreements and an end to "ambulance-chasing" firms selling personal injury claims to lawyers for a fee. In the review, designed to promote access to justice at proportionate cost, Court of Appeal judge Lord Justice Jackson said conditional fee agreements (of which no-win, no-fee agreements are the most common type) have led to huge and disproportionate increases in civil litigation costs in England and Wales.
