Workplace transport refers to any vehicle or piece of mobile equipment, which is used by employers, self-employed people or visitors in any workplace apart from travelling on public roads. Workplace transport accidents can result in death, broken bones and amputations. These accidents usually involve people being struck or run over by moving vehicles, people falling from vehicles, people being struck by objects falling from vehicles or vehicles overturning. Many employers and occupational health and safety professionals have not integrated workplace transport risks into their health and safety management systems. However, there is enough evidence regarding the number of workplace transport accidents for action to be taken.
