SHOPFLOOR workers in UK factories can expect the occasional scrutiny from company safety managers or from trade union safety reps. More rarely, they will receive a visit from an HSE inspector. But the chances of all three turning up at once must be pretty slim. Nevertheless, that's what has been happening at Grampian County Food Group. Staff at the company's six pork-processing plants have had HSE inspectors, safety reps from the Usdaw and Unite unions and company safety managers turn up simultaneously to audit them on their performance.
