Asbestos: The Facts

LASTING 15 minutes, this DVD training package is a well-presented primer on some of the key facts about asbestos. It includes the different types and applications of what was once called the "miracle fibre", and profiles the various serious health problems that can result from exposure to asbestos dust, including pleural plaques, asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma. The DVD notes that, though the import of asbestos materials has been banned (blue/brown in 1985 and white in 1999), these materials are still widespread and workers are still likely to come across them, especially during refurbishment and building maintenance work.
