A FORMER scaffolder has won 3.7 million pounds in compensation after he suffered life-threatening injuries caused by a 14-metre fall from defective scaffolding. Dutch company SGB Holland BV, which supplied the scaffolding, agreed to the multi-million pound payout after admitting liability for the accident. The High Court in London approved the sum on 18 November. The court heard how on 25 September 2000, Wayne Moore was working at the Corus Steel plant in Ljmuiden, Holland erecting Sprint 75 scaffolding, which was designed and manufactured in the SGB group. He was working for another firm HCl (Kent) which alleges he was effectively under SGB's control and supervision when the accident happened.
