Survey: U.S. Drivers to Retain Fuel-Efficient Habits Despite Lower Gas Prices

Despite the recent decline in U.S. gasoline prices, a new survey from market research firm NPD Group contends that would-be purchasers of new or used vehicles still perceive fuel efficiency as a deciding factor.NPD surveyed 1,363 consumers, and found that 61% said they were not planning to purchase a new or used vehicle in 2009. However, of those that were, 41% said they would buy a more fuel-efficient vehicle, while 43% said they would possibly buy a more fuel-efficient vehicle.
