SES Inks Methanol-to-Gasoline License Deal with ExxonMobil

Houston-based Synthesis Energy Systems (SES) announced Sept. 29 that it inked a deal with ExxonMobil to acquire an option for up to 15 licenses for methanol-to-gasoline (MTG) technology. MTG was first commercialized at a Mobil plant in New Zealand 20 years ago, but that plant shut down when the country's natural gas reserves started to dry-up and when oil prices were dropping.
