A new study by U.S. Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL) shows that China long ago passed the U.S. as the world's biggest CO2 emitter, contrary to popular reports that usually finger the U.S. "Despite widespread concern about climate change, annual carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels and manufacturing cement have grown 38% since 1992, from 6.1 billion metric tons of carbon, to 8.5 billion metric tons in 2007," the ORNL study found.
