George Stent and Bobbie Waterman's house, a beachside bungalow in the popular Sydney suburb of Clovelly, is a relaxed family home. Its white walls are covered in modern art with a decor that reflects the family's abiding love of the sea and sailing. Asecond storey, added four years ago, gives spectacular ocean views. Their quirky garden, a highly personal mix of 1950s retro, Santa Fe and coastal styles, was landscaped only two years ago using a wide selection of their favourite plants, cactuses andsucculents. The hard elements that set the garden's decorative theme are almost entirely discarded and salvaged items, such as corrugated iron, timber wharf piers and industrial objects. You won't find anything bright, shiny, or brand new here. Apart from the sandstone flagging, which was bought, most of the garden, including plants, was sourced from tips, council clean ups and demolished houses.
