Water & wastewater: Energy saving potential of mixing

摘要

In a study of a Danish wastewater treatment plant, CFD simulations show a potential energy savings of >50% for submersible mixing in an activated sludge tank. This can be realized by changing from medium-speed, small-propeller mixers to slow, large-propeller flowmakers without altering the flow field in the tank.
