Water & wastewater - Aqueduct project uses vertical power

The Delta-Mendota Canal/California Aqueduct Intertie project, one of the US newest and largest pumping projects, went online recently. The big pumps that move the water are each powered by a big vertical pump motor - which is exactly the type of application a little group of engineers envisioned when they came up with the idea of going vertical with pump motors, some 90 years ago.
