Hydropericardium hepatitis syndrome, also known as Angara disease, is expected to cause increasing problems in the European poultry industry. What is it and what can be done to minimize the losses? The occunence of hydropericardium-I hepatitis syndrom e (HHS or Angara I disease) in broiler flocks in the southern Netherlands during May 2002 raises new concerns for the possible extension of this disease into the intensive broiler industries of Western Europe.
