It is generally known that self-cleaning can be achieved by a combination of a highly hydrophobic surface (a surface energy below 20 mN/m) and a certain roughness (where the aspect ratio of height against width is greater than 1).Even small amounts of water on the surface can entrain dirt particles and clean the surface.
