A new performance additive in high solids wood coating formulations for furniture

Although the use of waterborne acrylic-based technology for joinery and UV cure technology for flat stock applications are cited as success stories for the application of VOC legislation in the wood coating industry, other applications such as residential furniture and professional joinery products for interior decoration are still predominandy solventborne. For high quality furniture finishes, waterborne coatings have a number of limitations including relatively poor chemical resistance and short/unpredictable pot life for waterborne 2K systems, relatively poor appearance, lack of transparency and 'anfeuerung', and narrow application window in terms of temperature and humidity.
