Olenitic tourmalines with different 141B-content have been synthesized in an endloaded piston cylinderpress at run conditions between 25 and 40 kbar, 600 and 750 °C and run durations of 120 to 215 h.The starting materials consisted either of oxide mixtures with Al-Si ratios for the ideal endmemberolenite NaAl3A16[Si6018](B03)303(OH) or of a gel with the anhydrous composition0.625Na20*4.5Al203*6Si02. To both starting materials different amounts of boron and sodium inexcess were added. Comparatively, two samples of synthetic 141B-containing olenite from a gel startingmaterial of the above given composition of a previous work of SCHREYER et al. (2000) have been re-examined.
