Since their collaboration began in 1991, the International Donkey Protection Trust (IDPT), the International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH) and the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) funded mobile veterinary clinics are the only organisations ensuring the free treatment and care for all donkeys, mules and horses in Mexico. The two clinics each have their own van complete with drugs and equipment, and are operated by a Mexican veterinary surgeon, veterinary assistant and WTFE trained farrier. Active throughout Mexico, the clinics work in different areas, which they visit on a regular basis to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions, run routine worming and vaccination preventative medicine programmes, offer corrective farriery, and replace inhumane articles of tack.
