Norwegian-backed cobia hatchery going ahead in Belize

Construction is now underway on a large cobia hatchery being built by Norway's Marine Farms Ltd. (MFL) at a former shrimp farm in the Stann Creek District of Belize in Central America. Projected to cost some 5 million dollar (USD) the facility is to feature several buildings capable of putting out up to two million fish a year. This would enable the accompanying growout farms to produce some 10 to 15 million kilograms offish for the export market each year.
