摘要

The light microscopic and scanning electron microscopic studies revealed that pollen grains of peach cv Floridasun appeared equi-triangular, 3-colporate and lolongate with thick exine, and stigmas as capitate, hollow and copiously papillate. Stigmaticsurface contained a thin cuticle layer covering the entire papillae. Unicellular papillae, at anthesis, showed turgid appearance indicating their receptive phase. After anthesis and pollination, these turned flaccid and shrank to form cup-shaped structures and then gradually degenerated. After pollination process the receptive stigma also exuded a viscous substance. Pollen grains got attached closely with papillae, germinated and pollen tubes penetrated the stigmatic surfaces through inter-papillar spaces to grow along stylar transmitting tissue.
