Researchers at the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center's Aquaculture Research Station south of Baton Rouge are using ultrasound to look inside female channel catfish to see how close they are to spawning and to aid in the spawning process.It is hoped that with time the use of ultrasound at catfish hatcheries will become common practice and that it will provide savings in labour and costs through improved efficiencies.
