Monitoring and control instrumentation vital to aquarium expansion project

When the North Carolina Aquarium, located at the mouth of the Cape Fear River about half an hour south of Wilmington, reopened after two years of renovation and expansion, it unveiled the latest in "Immersion Exhibit" technology. Inside the aquarium entrance visitors are surrounded by a freshwater river habitat complete with waterfalls, lush greenery and an alligator swamp: the same cypress trees, bushes, vines and grasses found in this area of North Carolina. "This is afrontier in the public aquarium arena that has evolved tremendously over the last 15 years," says Paul Barrington, Director of Husbandry and Operations. "These new exhibits try to recreate the same environment as the waters where these fish are found"
