Level of opinion towards family members and memory changes among aged women in Haryana.

The study was conducted on 100 women having more than 60 years of age, selected from two villages representing one rural way of life and another urban way of life from Bhiwani district of Haryana state during the year 2002 to ascertain the level of opinion towards family members, memory changes among old aged women and to establish the relationship between opinion and memory possessed by aged women and their antecedent characteristics. The study reveals that 63% of the aged women were having moderate level of opinion and majority (68%) of respondents had moderate level of memory changes. Comparative analysis of both villages highlights that rural respondents had more unfavourable opinions about family members than urban and slightly more number of urban respondents were suffering from severe level of memory changes than rural. Correlation analysis reveals that out of the nine variables studied four variables, namely, income, land holding, education and caste were found to have positive and significant correlation with opinion formed by the aged women. Only age of the respondents was found to have positive and significant relationship with memory changes.
