GS Caltex to commercialize biobutanol production.

The South Korean energy major has announced its intention to begin commercial-scale production of biobutanol— a renewable alternative to gasoline—in the 4Q of this year. GS Caltex has partnered with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology to construct and operate a facility that will yield biobutanol from biomass feed materials including sugar and wood.
