Kenya looks to replace Mombasa-Nairobi pipeline.

The existing Mombasa-Nairobi pipeline was built in 1978 and only has six years of life left, leading Kenya to seek firms to construct a new, wider pipeline in its place as demand is expected to increase. From the current 14 inches (0.36 m), the diameter of the new pipeline will be between 16 and 20 inches (0.41 and 0.51 m). Eligible firms include those with more than $750K annual turnover and the one selected will be "expected to carry out a detailed engineering design, prepare tender documents, forecast demand growth, and supervise the construction of the line's enhanced diameter." There should be no trouble with financing, as banks are prepared for the project.
