EU member countries must increase funding from ?3B/y ($4.5B/y) currently to ?8B/y ($12B/y) for an additional investment of ?50B ($75.IB) by 2020 in order to develop sufficient clean energy technology, according to the European Commission (EC). The proposed additional investment would be part of the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan), the technology spearhead of the EU's energy and climate policy.
