True to its word, Italy's Eni last week marked "the preliminary restart of pipeline operations" in Libya by announcing it had "initiated testing activities" on the Greenstream export pipeline, which runs from Mellitah on Libya's west coast to the Sicilian town of Gela in Italy. But conflicting statements from Eni and Libyan officials make it difficult to assess either likely near-term Greenstream flows or the potential for boosting Libyan gas production further over time under a post-revolutionary regime.
