Once viewed as a lucrative market for imported LNG, the US Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions now appear to be endowed with several emerging sources of indigenous gas, some onshore and some off, some already available and some merely poten- rial, that together could radically reduce its need for outside supply - including both LNG and gas from the Gulf of Mexico region, which currently reaches the Northeast by pipeline.
