MARKET INSIGHT: Euro Prices Creep Up

End-user gas prices across Western Europe continued to rise from the third into the fourth quarter of 2007, as they had from the second into the third quarter, according to the latest data reported by Energy Advice to WGI. Indexation to crude and oil product prices meant, in some cases, gas prices in dollar terms were up to 20% higher in October than in July. But because of the continuing strength of the euro, the effect of time lags, and reluctance among certain suppliers to apply all indexation terms, final euro gas price increases ranged from 3% to 16%.
